This schedule allocates 12 hours across two weeks to one portfolio sample. The objective is a finished, inspectable piece of work. It is not a deadline for getting hired, and it is not evidence that every beginner can finish in the same time.
Choose either the order-cleaning exercise or the canvas-tote copy brief. Use invented data, keep the practice label, and record actual minutes so your next estimate improves.
The session plan
| Day | Minutes | Output |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 45 | Chosen brief, audience and boundaries |
| 2 | 45 | Rules or product-fact checklist |
| 3 | 60 | First complete attempt |
| 4 | 60 | Remaining work and unresolved questions |
| 5 | 45 | Independent pass against the original brief |
| 6 | 60 | Corrected second version |
| 7 | 0 | Rest or use available recovery time |
| 8 | 60 | A simple portfolio page or document |
| 9 | 30 | Editable file with a useful name |
| 10 | 30 | Reader review, if a reviewer is available |
| 11 | 60 | Changes from review or a next-day self-check |
| 12 | 45 | Mobile, link and download checks |
| 13 | 30 | Contribution statement and practice disclosure |
| 14 | 150 | Final check and buffer for unfinished work |
The planned sessions total 720 minutes. The last day includes a large buffer because formatting and verification often expose unfinished content. If you only have six hours available over two weeks, reduce the brief or spread the schedule out; do not halve every check silently.
What belongs on the page
Start with the final output and a short explanation of the brief. Include the source or approved facts, an editable file, three decisions you made, and any unresolved issue. For the tote example, explain why you removed “waterproof,” why the open top matters, and why the dimensions need units.
For spreadsheet work, provide both the original and the cleaned output. Explain why the ambiguous date stays unresolved. The ability to justify a blank is more useful than making the sheet look complete by guessing.
Use a recovery rule when you fall behind
If the core output is incomplete on day six, move page decoration into the buffer. If facts are wrong, correct them before creating screenshots. If no outside reviewer is available, inspect the work again on a different day and say it was a self-review. Do not invent a testimonial to satisfy a timetable.
Keep a small log with planned minutes, actual minutes, task completed and next action. The weekly capacity sheet can be adapted for this. Repeatedly missing the same task suggests the scope or estimate needs changing.
A completion test that a stranger can use
Open the link without your account, read it on a narrow screen and download the file. Can a reader identify the assignment, inspect the answer and understand your contribution? Can they distinguish supplied example text from the work you created? Are private records and draft comments absent?
Publish when those checks pass, even if the design is simple. Continue revising when they do not. A complete small sample is a better basis for the proposal clinic than a large collection of unfinished screenshots.
Practice work and illustrative amounts are labelled in the article. See how we prepare and correct guides and how the resource checks work. Report a specific error or broken step.
