A clear service listing tells a buyer what they receive, what they must supply and where the boundary lies. Package names such as Basic or Premium do not explain those details on their own. Start with a service specification, then adapt it to the current options and rules in Fiverr's Gig editor.
A completed fictional specification
| Field | Example: product-copy service |
|---|---|
| Output | Three titles and three descriptions, labelled by SKU |
| Input | Approved product facts, audience, tone and spelling preference |
| File | One editable Markdown or agreed document file |
| Start condition | Complete requirements and confirmed order |
| Revision | One consolidated round within the agreed facts and scope |
| Excluded | Research, photographs, store uploading and additional products |
| Acceptance | All three SKUs included; claims trace to approved facts |
This is a teaching example, not a tested Gig or a promise of orders. Download the service-scope worksheet to define a service you can actually deliver.
Write the listing from the specification
An example title is “I will write three factual product descriptions from your brief.” The opening can explain that the buyer supplies specifications and receives one title and one description per product. State the approximate length only if you can deliver it without padding or omitting essential information.
Avoid “unlimited work,” “guaranteed sales,” and credentials you cannot support. A buyer needs to understand fit, not infer quality from superlatives. If uploading is excluded, say so before an order begins, even if uploading seems easy.
Ask for requirements that prevent rework
For product copy, collect SKU, product name, dimensions, material, included parts, care instructions and any approved claims relevant to the brief. Ask which facts are unknown. A blank paper-weight field should remain an unresolved question rather than becoming “premium 120 gsm.”
Use a single requirements list so a buyer can see what is missing. Confirm who supplies final facts and who approves the copy. A three-person feedback chain needs a consolidated review process to avoid contradictory revisions.
Classify a change before doing it
| Request | Treatment in this example |
|---|---|
| You misspelled an approved product name | Correct your error |
| Buyer supplies a corrected colour within the agreed review | Confirm the change and revision scope |
| Buyer adds five products | Estimate additional work separately |
| Buyer now wants store uploading | Agree a new deliverable and permitted access |
Use neutral wording: “The current order covers three descriptions in an editable file. I can estimate the extra five after receiving their specifications.” Do not turn a request to upload into permission to access an account, and do not ask for passwords through chat.
Price and schedule the whole service
Time a practice delivery including messages, fact checking, revisions and file checks. If those tasks take six hours, a one-hour writing estimate is incomplete. Review current platform charges and the payment model before deciding what a project leaves you.
Use Fiverr's official Gig guidance for current configuration requirements. The worksheet defines your service; it does not replace Fiverr's current terms. At delivery, use the handoff checklist to verify that the buyer receives what this scope promised.
